Frequently Asked Questions

When is the In-House Season?

The in House Volleyball season is a Fall Sport.   Teams are announced the week after Labor Day in September and the season ends the weekend before Thanksgiving with Championship Games and an End of the Season Celebration.

What age can my daughter play?

The In House Volleyball season is based on birthdays corresponding with the start and end of the season.   Our youngest players turn 8 by September 1st and our oldest players  turn 18 on or before November 30th.

Will my daughter play with her peers?

We have three levels of play.

Ponytails is designed for players 3rd - 5th grade

Majors is designed for players 6th - 8th grade

Seniors is designed for players 9th - 12th grade

Note:  Player’s may move up to a higher level, pending approval.  However, player’s may not play lower than their grade level.

Can my daughter be on a team with her friends?

Although we can not guarantee team assignments, we recognize the benefits of playing with friends.   During the registration process you are able to request a teammate.   It is recommended that both players put each other's first and last name on their separate registration forms to help guide placement.  Siblings in the same level of play will be placed on a team together.   Please note their names in the comment section.

What if my daughter has never played before?

In House Volleyball welcomes all skill levels!  Pre-Season clinics take place in August and are included with your registration.  These help girls learn basic skills and encourage all skill levels to get excited for the upcoming season.

Where do the practices and games take place?

Panther Sports Club is a part of the Bolingbrook Athletic Council (BAC).   This partnership allows volleyball to take place in Bolingbrook Park District Buildings and in the Valley View School District Middle Schools.

When are practices and games?

Practices begin the weekend after Labor Day.  Once the BAC releases gym availability your daughter’s team will be assigned one weeknight for practice.  Prior to weeknight practices, practices will take place on Fridays and Saturdays.  All games will be played on Friday nights and/or Saturdays between 9am and 2pm.

What if my daughter can not practice on the night she is assigned?

In-House volleyball does their best to accommodate coaches and players schedules.  However, practice nights are not guaranteed.  Panther Sports Club does not control the nights available from our schools and park district facilities. To help your chances for availability, note on the registration form only if there is a night you absolutely can not practice on.

How many games will my daughter play?

Game schedules vary per season based on number of teams and gym availability.  During the season, all players are guaranteed to play one full game per every 3 game set without being substituted out.  Beyond this, it is at the coaches discretion.

Does my daughter need to wear knee pads?

Yes.  Knee pads are required for all players during practices and games.  Knee pads are the responsibility of the player.

What should my daughter wear to practices and games?

Practices:  comfortable clothing that is easy to move in.  Tie gym shoes and knee pads are required.

Games:  A team jersey is issued prior to the start of season’s games.   Players are responsible for wearing their jersey and any black bottom.  Shorts, capris and leggings are all acceptable with knee pads and tie gym shoes.

NOTE:  No dangle or hoop earrings, rings or any items on wrists.   Necklaces may be worn if they can remain tucked in shirt during play.

What is the End of the Season Celebration?

The End of the Season Celebration is the Saturday following Friday’s Championship games.  During this celebration all teams are recognized for their growth throughout the season.   All-Star games per level are played and lots of fun takes place with open play, photo booths, raffle prizes and more.

How can I help?

Panther Sports Club runs exclusively on Volunteers.   Your willingness to devote your time and talents to nurturing your daughter and friends as their coach will last well beyond the 3 month commitment.  Coaches are guided throughout the season and have access to practice ideas and training materials.
