2020 Slow Pitch Softball COVID-19 Update (5/1/2020)

It is with heavy heart that after much consideration, I have decided to cancel the 2020 Slow Pitch Softball Season. After several weeks of monitoring not only the government and medical guidelines, along with the responsive actions of other local youth organizations and sports organizations, it is in the best interest for the safety and well being of our players and Panther families to forego taking the field this season. This is by far the most difficult decision I have ever had to make as a commissioner and not one that I took lightly.

Although the 2020 season will not continue as planned, we will continue with the online Preseason Training videos that many of you have been enjoying for the past several weeks. These videos are an excellent opportunity for our players to continue being involved in the sport that they love from the safety of your own home, while continuing to hone their skills for next season. If you have not been following the videos, I invite you to check out current and past videos at one of the following Panther Slow Pitch social media platforms:

As always, if you have any questions please feel free to contact me at

Chris Peterson, Slow Pitch Softball Commissioner

COVID 19 (Coronavirus) - Updated 4/22/2020 (10:00am)

All Panther programs (basketball, volleyball and softball) are suspended until further notice.

In regards to Governor Pritzker's executive order to close in person education for the remainder of the current school year, like many of you, we are still in a holding pattern as we wait for local and state government to decide how to proceed. As now, many of us are still waiting for May 1st for the stay at home order to be lifted and phases of reopening business' and programs to start.

We are still in contact with the Bolingbrook Park District to find solutions and compromises to get our softball programs started. As a reminder, the park district facilities, sports fields and playgrounds are closed until April 30, 2020. We will adjust accordingly to any updates to the shelter in place order.

Our basketball and volleyball commissioners will be working alongside our board and the park district to complete the end of the seasons that were abruptly placed on hold at the start of this pandemic. Once things start to open back up, we will continue to update you as more information becomes available.

As these updates come in, you may be receiving emails from a Panther board member with more detailed information so please make sure to check your emails (along with SPAM folders) to get this information.

Until then, remember to please take normal precautions during this time and:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then dispose of the tissue in the trash. Sanitize afterwards.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • As appropriate, contact your healthcare provider.

We hope everyone remains healthy and safe and can enjoy some of the time off with your families!

If you have any questions, please do not hesistate to contact us at
